John Deaton who acts as a speaker for XRP holders gave SEC a 10 days ultimatum in a recent live video to Release the Hinman report
Deaton argued that the requested information might help both parties to move forward, and he has given the commission 10 days to officially answer this.
John Deaton, a prominent advocate for XRP holders, has called on SEC Chairman Gary Gensler in a recent live video to release the Hinman report that pertains to a speech from 2018 by former SEC official William Hinman, who mentioned at the time that Ethereum was not a security. Deaton has even given the SEC an ultimatum of 10 days to give an answer to this.
Empower Oversight, an independent watchdog group, recently called for an investigation into possible conflicts of interest over Hinman’s speech. The Office of the Inspector General completed the investigation and submitted the results to Gary Gensler. However, the report is yet to be released to the public, which Deaton believes is unexpected.
He was firm in his statement that the commission should let the public know the findings of the investigation. “This is a respectful request for you to release the report to the public. Seventy-five thousand XRP holders are waiting for this,” Deaton said. He reiterated the report as an essential clue for people to understand the SEC’s actions and the Ripple case.
Deaton has also encouraged others to engage with the SEC or write to them with requests to make the Hinman Report public. He has a strong belief that public pressure would work for the government’s compliance.
