U.S. Government Moves Silk Road Bitcoin in Test Transaction

The U.S. government has recently made a small transaction from the FBI-controlled wallet holding bitcoins seized from the Silk Road.

The transaction that took place on January 10, 2025, involved transferring only 0.00000546 BTC (around $0.51), which seems to be a small, test transfer to check the process of moving funds from the wallet.

This is important because the FBI has been approved to sell these seized Bitcoins. The small amount being moved in this transaction suggests they are likely testing the process before making larger sales.

The wallet holds approximately 69,000 bitcoins, worth around $6.5 billion, which were confiscated from an individual who stole them from the Silk Road marketplace.
