How Nayib Bukele’s Bitcoin Donation is Transforming Education in Honduras

Presidential Support for Educational Development

President Bukele sent 2 BTC to Shin Fujiyama, who started Students Helping Honduras. Fujiyama is running 3,000 kilometers to raise money for schools. “He watched videos of President Bukele to gather the courage and the inspiration to just do it,” Hilbert said about Fujiyama’s motivation. This Bitcoin donation will go straight to building schools across Honduras.

This Bitcoin donation shows how El Salvador leads in using cryptocurrency. The government buys one Bitcoin every day since March 16. They now have 5,913 BTC. President Bukele explains their approach:

“We have never forced anyone to adopt it. We offered it as an option, and those who chose to use it have benefited from the rise in Bitcoin.”

This strategy has made El Salvador a model for other countries.

Impact on Regional Development

This project proves Bitcoin can help with international aid and sets an example for other cryptocurrency charity work in Central America. New schools will help local communities, and the Bitcoin donation project also shows how digital money can work in developing countries.
