Recent reports circulating on X reveals that the Dogecoin blockchain was compromised with a known vulnerability “DogeReaper,” causing the majority of the network nodes to go inactive.
Although the leap of faith is that this breach only affected outdated versions and did not harm the network on a serious note. Several analysts have also ensured that the network’s decentralization and stability are intact.
“Recent reports about Dogecoin nodes being impacted only concern outdated versions,” said DogeUni, a Dogecoin community handle,”the latest Dogecoin versions remain unaffected, ensuring the network’s decentralization and stability are intact.”
The attack took down over 442 active nodes out of total 647, but most are once again active after updating to the newer version.
This vulnerability, called “DogeReaper,” was previously revealed by a developer named Tobias Ruck and he was rewarded merely a $200 bounty. Now as it is exploited by, people in the Dogecoin community are raising concerns about the future of the DOGE.
“It is not a very important vulnerability, but it may make you nervous if it is shared by serious news organizations. DOGE stands out as the best memecoin,” says a crypto news handle on X.
