According to reports, the malicious actors stole $100 million worth of Shiba Inu (SHIB), $52 million worth of Ethereum (ETH), $11 million of Polygon (MATIC), and others.

Will The Hacker Be Caught?

WazirX announced that it will award 10% of the stolen amount to anybody who can recover the funds. A 10% reward will roughly equate to about $23.4 million.

According to the exchange, “We invite white hat hackers, blockchain forensics experts, and cybersecurity professionals from around the world to join this critical mission and protect the integrity of the crypto ecosystem.”

Despite the enormous reward, no one has caught the hackers yet. The hacker will likely move the remaining Ethereum (ETH) to Tornado Cash.

The cryptocurrency space is full of scams and hacks. Mixers like Tornado Cash make it even more difficult to trace stolen funds, such as the ETH. North Korea’s Lazarus group is one of the most notorious crypto thieves, responsible for stealing about $1.9 billion worth of assets.
