These scams typically target followers with enticing job offers, hoping to trick them into downloading malware or providing sensitive information.

The hacker, posing as The Cryptomist on X, shared a post stating, “Web3 position available (remote).  Big project to work with.” This message is designed to lure followers by offering an appealing remote Web3 job with the promise of payment.

Many users have commented on the posts, expressing interest in the positions, and illustrating how easily individuals can fall into these traps.

ZachXBT also reported that if a user contacted The Cryptomist directly and received a response instructing them to message an individual on Telegram using the handle “@wzwz_eth”, where they would be provided with additional information regarding the job offer.

If users contact @wzwz_eth on Telegram, they may receive a message encouraging them to sign up on a website linked with the scam. The message may ask for their email, username, and password, claiming that this information is necessary to access project details and gain a moderator role, supposedly providing full access to various tools.

The message also says, “Just don’t forget to leave your username so that I can give you role, since without it most of the site is closed.” The request for a username to grant access further indicates that this could be a scam, as legitimate platforms usually do not require such information to unlock features or roles.

To protect themselves from falling victim to such schemes, users must be cautious, recognize red flags such as requests for personal information, and verify the legitimacy of offers.
