Bybit Secures VASP License from National Bank of Georgia

Bybit, the world’s second crypto exchange by trading volume, announced on November 5, 2024, that it has registered with the National Bank of Georgia as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP).

With the Georgian VASP registration, Bybit continues enhancing its regulatory portfolio in 2024, which licenses acquired from the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, and Türkiye contributed to. This registration permits Bybit to provide services in the legal framework of the Georgian crypto industry.

Ben Zhou, Bybit`s Co-founder and CEO, making comments on this development, said that “We are honored to be registered as  the VASP by the National Bank of Georgia, marking a new chapter in our journey to support the growth of the crypto ecosystem,” He added that “This registration underlines our commitment to providing users in Georgia with a secure and compliant platform, further contributing to the region’s ambition of becoming a hotbed for blockchain innovation.”

Benefits of VASP Licence to Georgia

The license enables Bybit to join the new initiatives for Georgia’s digital transformation. The exchange intends to adapt its trading solutions for individual users, entrepreneurs, and institutions in Georgia in response to the increasing demand for cryptocurrency within the area.

The expansion to the Georgian market is timely, as the country is charting a niche for itself in the development of the digital economy, focusing on rapid regulatory development and strategic location.

Bybits Objectives

Some of Bybit’s objectives for the Georgian market are localizing global standards, providing educational content, and fostering the potential for the creation of new innovations in the region.

This development also aligns with Bybit’s vision of operating within global regulatory frameworks, as evidenced by their licensing efforts in various jurisdictions in 2024. The exchange is regulated, which allows it to operate on several continents, and its expansion plans span across the continents, showing its strategy of building a regulatory foothold in main markets.

Also, Bybit will be able to conduct its business under the supervision of the country’s central bank, which is excellent for developing this country’s cryptocurrency infrastructure. Endorsed as a VASP, Bybit will undertake activities that fall within the regulatory parameters prescribed by the National Bank of Georgia and promote Georgia’s regulated domestic market for digital assets.
